Atulya
Privacy Policy
Last updated: 19 April 2026
What this is
Atulya hosts deeply personal content — photos and stories of people who have passed away. We treat that responsibility seriously. This policy explains what we collect and how we use it.
What we collect
- Account info: when you sign in with Google, we receive your email, name, and profile picture.
- Memorial content: what you upload — bios, photos, videos, tributes, candles.
- Payment info: if you upgrade, our payment processor (DodoPayments) handles card details. We never see or store them. We see a payment ID, amount, and currency.
- Email subscribers: when someone subscribes to anniversary reminders, we store their email and reminder preferences.
- Usage analytics: high-level pageview counts (no personal browsing history).
How we use it
- To run the service — store and display your memorials.
- To send anniversary reminders to subscribers (only those who opted in).
- To send transactional emails (receipts, account notifications).
- To prevent abuse (rate limiting on tribute/candle endpoints).
We never sell your data. We never show ads. We never share memorial content with third parties for marketing.
Where data lives
- Database hosted in Singapore (Neon Postgres).
- Photos / videos stored in Cloudflare R2.
- Email delivery via GoDaddy SMTP.
- App hosted on Vercel.
Your rights (DPDP Act 2023 + general)
- Access: request a copy of all data we hold about you.
- Correction: edit or remove anything via the dashboard.
- Deletion: delete your account and all memorials (memorial soft-delete = 30 days, then permanent).
- Portability: request an export of your data in a machine-readable format.
- Withdrawal of consent: unsubscribe from any email at any time via the unsubscribe link.
For any of the above, email support@atulya.life. We respond within 7 business days.
Cookies
We use one essential cookie for authentication (NextAuth session token). No tracking cookies. No third-party advertising cookies.
Children
Atulya is not intended for users under 18. If you believe a minor has created an account, please contact us and we'll remove it.
Visibility settings
You control whether each memorial is Public (indexed by search engines), Unlisted (only people with the link can find it), or Private (only you and co-editors). Default is Public — you can change this on the edit page anytime.
Changes
Material changes to this policy will be notified by email to your account address.
